The Red House stands in a pleasant woodland setting on the northern edge of Thetford. The position provides privacy yet offers easy access to local amenities, making this the perfect location for a residential home. The extensive grassed areas allow residents to relax and enjoy the wildlife.

By today’s standards the home is relatively small and this contributes to the cosy, homely feel. There are twelve bedrooms of which nine presently have en suite facilities. One of our largest bay fronted rooms offers a double occupancy option for couples, friends or siblings.

Here at The Red House it is really important to us that people spend the days as they choose. We believe strongly it is your home and we are here simply to help you live in it. We encourage you to surround yourself with your personal belongings , if you so wish, making your room your own. The result is a house filled with unique spaces ; a welcoming, friendly, family home. We fully embrace all contact with visitors as we recognise how important it is to maintain relationships with family and friends.

Caring comes first

We want you to feel like a much respected and valued member of the small Red House family. If you are looking for quality care in a safe environment , The Red House is the perfect choice. Our friendly and professional team of carers undertake regular training to ensure the highest standard of care provision is maintained. They pride themselves on the extra attention they are able to give to each resident and are on hand day and night to ensure your safety and well being. Improving quality of life and maintaining dignity and independence are our overarching objectives. Our regular reviews of individual care packages and close associations with all professional services , help us achieve this.

Respite services

We understand full time carers sometimes need a break or that it may become necessary for you to have a little extra help. Temporary respite with us, for example after a fall or an illness could be the answer. The Red House facilities can provide that short- term boost to allow you to rebuild your confidence in the knowledge that our staff are on hand 24 hours a day . For your families , peace of mind comes from seeing you happy in your temporary environment and from knowing you are receiving the highest level of personal care.

Activities at the Red House

Gardening is just one of the activities on offer at the Red House and we encourage those interested to join in at all stages, from making decisions about the arrangements to planting and providing ongoing care and maintenance. We understand that the ability to shape one’s environment is as important to the residents as the sense of purpose that arises from involvement in a rewarding hands-on-task . The results are a delight for everyone and a justifiable source of pride for our residents.

For those who still like to venture out, shopping trips can be arranged and access to the grounds is always encouraged.

Many of our residents continue to enjoy previous interests such as as reading, listening to music , knitting or jigsaws. Arts and crafts materials and games are available and organised at intervals alongside reminiscence based activity.

We have good links with excellent local entertainers who visit us regularly throughout the year as well as bringing a special atmosphere to our fete days and Christmas celebrations. Pampering sessions are popular particularly with our female residents .We offer regular hairdressing and chiropody which our residents always look forward to.

Alongside this, we maintain a quiet lounge space at all times where staff regularly find the time for those invaluable one to one chats.

Your history is as important as your future. It helps us to understand you, your likes and dislikes, your values and your aspirations. We make sure we recognise this part of you so that we can help you live your life to the full in the present and make the most of your potential in the future.
